Soomro for joint ventures in banking sector with Sri Lanka

Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro has said possibilities of joint ventures between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the banking sector should be explored to increase trade between the two countries. He expressed these views during a meeting with Sri Lankan President Mahindra Rajapakasi here on Monday.
Soomro expressed the hope that business delegations of the two countries would explore avenues of going into joint ventures and investment. Technology-based education and computer literacy were the need of hour and our younger generation should opt for globally competitive quality education, he added.
The Senate chairman said education and information technology had picked up tremendously in Pakistan during the last few years.
It was a matter of great satisfaction that literacy rate in Sri Lanka was very high and that a number of Sri Lankan teachers were already engaged in teaching profession imparting education in Pakistan's educational institutions.
Sri Lankan President highlighted close and fraternal relations between the two countries in various fields. He underlined the need for people-to-people contact and underlined closer co-operation between parliaments of the two countries.
