President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Abdul Rauf has demanded of Capital Development Authority (CDA) to introduce modern technology and ensure measures to up grade the traffic engineering sector to solve the traffic problem in the capital city.
He was speaking at a meeting with Traffic Subcommittee in Chamber House here on Friday. He said that on the directions of the Prime Minister, Islamabad Traffic Police is declared as model police but without modern technology induction performance cannot be exemplary.
Abdul Rauf said that according to Islamabad Master Plan there was no signal on any main road and crossing overs and under passes were also included in plan but concerned department gave cold shoulder to this matter deviating from the plan.
He further said that tender was opened to construct the under pass on the Shahra-e-Quiad-e-Azam near Kulsoom Plaza which would be constructed in 18 months whereas the interchange construction is imperative on zero point and Citibank Chowk. He decried the moratorium of zero point interchange due to unknown reasons.
Abdul Rauf, said that on different roads and Chowks of Islamabad old signals are installed creating traffic problems, if new signals are installed that will work according to traffic flow, this problem could be controlled. He appealed to Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari to take pragmatic measures to combat the traffic problem in metropolis by upgrading the traffic engineering.
