Dr Ata-ur-Rehman, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) has asked the universities to establish research centres and laboratories to produce new products for the market and said," HEC was not satisfied with the examination system of the university and we have constituted a committee to frame a new system".
Talking to newsmen here on Friday Dr Ata-ur-Rehman said that the government is making revolutionary changes in the education sector and the country is achieving record historic development.
He said that six new universities, including Engineering University at Kamla, had been set up by the government for the promotion of knowledge and higher learning while a women university was being set up in Multan under the directive of President General Pervez Musharraf and classes at this university had already been started.
He said that the HEC had provided Rs 597 million to BZU for execution of its projects and the government was introducing more such disciplines which could help meet growing demand of skilled people for ending unemployment. He said that the government was also establishing an Engineering University in Multan.
