Information minister Sheikh Rashid has said Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif have no role in the coming general elections. According to the constitution, the next election would be held in 2008 rather 2007 and some opposition leaders have seconded this point of view, he added.
While talking to media men at Circuit House here on Sunday, the minister said Benazir Bhutto first had to defend her in corruption cases before contesting the election. Nawaz Sharif was challenging his exile for nothing and added he opted for self-exile. He would have to go back by return flight if he tried to stage a comeback, Rashid said.
He said operation in Balochistan was a need of the hour, adding it was necessary to save national resources from miscreants.
Answering a question, the minister said the government was taking steps to control price hike and soon a relief package would be announced for common people.
