A big godown of cotton and offices of cotton brokers were completely reduced to ashes when huge fire broke out in the Rahim Center Tata Bazar here on Sunday.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, however, the fire was so violent that fire fighters of various fire brigade stations of the city could extinguish the blaze after the hectic efforts of seven hours.
Some of five persons fell unconscious while extinguishing the fire. Eyewitnesses said the workers of the factory informed the city fire brigade, who reached the site of the fire one-hour late due to traffic problems. The damage of cotton godown could not be immediately ascertained, however, Rana Muhammad Younus owner of the godown said the estimate of losses was about one million rupees.
