The Task Force constituted to keep the Phuleli canal as pollution free channel in its meeting held under the Chairmanship of Zila Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed at Zila Nazim Secretariat on Monday, unanimously requested the Governor and Chief Minister of Sindh to head the forum and get its project implemented in the interest of common people.
Addressing the meeting, the Zila Nazim Hyderabad said after constitution of Task Force under initiative of district government Hyderabad, two separate teams comprising on the officers of Irrigation, Revenue departments, HDA and Sindh Police have been formed to conduct physical survey and warn the people not to dispose of their effluent into canals one side and collect the data of encroachment on the other side.
He said the district government Hyderabad being a stakeholder of this project has realised its responsibilities and expedited on-going work of laying 48" dia sewer pipeline to take the city effluent across the Phuleli canal and dispose of it at Northern Treatment Plant behind the Isra University from where same could be utilised for irrigation purpose.
He said that this work of pipeline would be completed at the cost of Rs 30 million by the end of coming June and construction work of Northern treatment plant to be completed at the cost of Rs 50 million by the end of December 2006.
