A nation cannot groom without achieving excellence in the field of academics, NWFP Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Maulana Amanullah Haqqani, has said while addressing the upgradation ceremony of Government Primary School at Tehkal Bala on Monday.
Provincial Minister, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government recognised the importance of education and was therefore spending a huge amount on various schemes in that regard.
He said that due to the shabby policies of the previous governments, the desired target of literacy in the province could not be achieved.
Amanullah Haqqani said that performance of many public sector organisations was very poor before MMA took over in 2002 and introduced reforms to cater to the desires and wishes of the masses.
He said the culture of plunder and nepotism had been eradicated and instead a transparent and just system had been introduced.
Knowing well the significance of education, he said the government had launched various projects including setting-up of Women University and degree colleges and schools for the female folk in other districts of the province.
However, he said that without the assistance of parents and teachers, the government would not succeed in its struggle and stressed on them to play their due role to supplement the efforts of the government. He said that people of Gharibabad area needed a school, which had been fulfilled today.
Elders of the area on this occasion thanked the minister for upgrading the primary school of the area to the middle level. Nazim, Haji Shakirullah, Nazim, Gulbashar and Head master of the school Zaman Khan addressed the function.
