14 Apr, 2006

Religious scholars, Ulema and leaders of Christian community have strongly condemned the Nishtar park bomb blast, and termed it a naked aggression against humanity.
These views were expressed in District Peace Committee meeting, held here on Thursday, and presided over by Sialkot District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema.
All religious scholars strongly condemned the killings and brutality against mankind, and further stated that some anti-Islamic and anti-state elements were trying to create turmoil to disrupt the peace and development process of the country just for their own interest.
It was a vivid fact that such elements were working to weaken the integrity of the country, but the people belonging to all caste and creed would foil their nefarious designs, they added.
Addressing the meeting, Sialkot Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema vowed to maintain law and order at all cost in the district.
He said that strenuous efforts would be carried out for developing inter-religion harmony for bringing closer all the religions for building up better understandings in the district.
The District Nazim called upon the religious scholars that they should focus special attention on developing sectarian harmony and unity for edging out the menace of terrorism from grass-root level.
"Islam is religion of peace, tolerance and brotherhood and strongly condemns the barbarism and killing of innocent people," he said.
He underscored the need to mould the lives in accordance to the golden principles of Islam and acting upon the teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for overcoming multifarious problems being confronting to a common man.
The District Nazim urged upon the teacher community to focus extraordinary attention in character building and teaching of ethics to the student community for developing moral values.
On this occasion, the religious scholars and Ulema assured the district government that law and order would be maintained at all cost while protesting against the Karachi bomb blast.
Religious scholars and Ulema, belonging to various sects and leaders of Christian community, attended the meeting, and special Dua was offered for the departed souls.
