Horrendous, senseless, depraved, vicious, grotesque, the work of misguided senseless souls taking the lives of so many, for which God has ordained that no human has a right to do that, so was the bloody spectre at Nishtar Park in Karachi.
Seems to be the handiwork of depraved, perverse, tainted, vicious and vitiated minds. Do their masters, if any, realise that such acts are a state of corrupted morals, destitution of good human principles and profligacy. So many killed, so many maimed and so many mentally tarnished for the rest of their lives.
Where was the so-called security apparatus about which we hear day in and day out?
When the government knew that an Ijtima was being held which will draw thousands of people, wasn't it incumbent upon the authorities to make necessary arrangements, particularly keeping in view the volatile situation in the city of lights, Karachi?
Well, the lights have dimmed, the people aggrieved, khandaans destroyed and what does the government have to offer? Doling out cash, meagre amounts at that, to those killed and maimed. Announced but when will it be disbursed remains to be seen.
The chieftains/rulers of the province should, at the very least, take time out of their 'busy' schedules, call on the families of the victims to condole and sympathise with them.
Maybe, the breadwinner of the house was killed. How will the family survive? Will the government make some arrangements to give jobs to some family members so that at least they are able to feed and clothe themselves, the sorrow of the lost soul forever burning in their hearts.
One of the so-called VVIP's arrives in Karachi. Their retinue consists of scores of latest vehicles, including the limos the VVIP rides in accompanied by siren shrieking security vans seating fully armed guards, back-up vehicles and ambulances. The scene on the roads is one that gives the utmost inconvenience to the motorists and citizens. Deaths have been reported as ambulances carrying the sick were not allowed by the over-zealous security personnel to come onto the main artery, Shahrae Faisal which leads to the major hospitals, lest the visiting VVIPs' motorcade encounters some kind of delay. More zealous than the VVIP himself, the security apparatus, it seems. Always an over-kill.
This compared to what history tells us. The Founder of this Nation, when he fell ill in Ziarat and was transported to Karachi, was put into an ambulance to be rushed to the care of his doctors, the ambulance, of all the vehicles broke down. Where were these personnel then? Wasn't the Quaid, the VVVIP of Pakistan?
Shouldn't have a back-up ambulance been a part of the retinue?

My heart-felt sympathies go out to the families of the victims of this recent carnage and also to the families of those who have been deprived of life because of these so-called traffic arrangements.
