Chilean stocks rose on Thursday led by electric utilities. The IPSA blue chip index rose 0.61 percent to 2,150.96 points in a shortened pre-holiday trading session, while the broader IGPA index climbed 0.16 percent to 9,844.34, preliminary closing figures showed.
The Santiago stock exchange closed early at 2:00 pm (1800 GMT), ahead of the Good Friday holiday. Heavily weighted Endesa Spain electric subsidiary Enersis gained 2.02 percent to 125 pesos a share, while affiliated energy generator, Endesa Chile, rose 0.86 percent to 526.50 pesos a share. Chilean owned No 3 energy generator Colbun led blue chip percentage gains with a surge of 3.11 percent to 74.90 pesos a share.
