Pakistan Navy would establish a War College in Jatti Umra in near future, said the Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Muhammad Haroon. While addressing the course participants of 3rd Correspondence Course conducted for senior officers at Pakistan Navy War College here on Saturday.
The Vice Chief said that proposal for new PN War College came under discussion during his meeting with Governor Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd), who assured his full support for acquisition of land at Jatti Umra for the purpose.
He added that Pakistan Navy was further planning to establish a strategic institute for maritime affairs, which would host scholars and intellectuals concerning the maritime affairs. He pointed that the scholars would interact with various forums and hold seminars for better understanding of maritime sector in Pakistan.
Addressing the graduating officers of correspondence course, the Vice Admiral highlighted contemporary maritime security challenges that confront Pakistan. He asserted that seas were the common heritage of mankind and their vastness acted as global trade highway, which we as a nation should exploit to our advantage. However, these highways at sea today were more at risk than at any other time in human history, he said.
Earlier, Commodore M Fahim Khan - Commandant Pakistan Navy War College presented address of welcome in the function.
