'Ibsen in South Asia festival'

Rafi Peer Theater Workshop in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Embassy will be presenting modern drama writer's work "Ibsen in South Asia Festival" from April 19 to 27.
Chairman of the Rafi Peer Theater Usman Peerzada told newsmen here on Saturday that over the past 15 years the Rafi Peer Theater workshop has followed its dream of bringing the gift of cultural exchange to Pakistan. He said that the year 2006 marks one hundred years of Henrik John Ibsen who was an influential Norwegian Playwright responsible for the rise of the modern realistic drama. Ibsen is the most frequently performed dramatist in the world after Shakespeare, he added.
He said that the festival will also feature a one-day conference on the life, works and influence on South East Asia of Henrik Ibsen, where scholars, critics, actors and directors from the participating countries will read papers, he concluded.
