Irrigation water channel inaugurated

The NWFP Minister for Environment and Forests Shah Raz Khan formally inaugurated the famous and long awaited irrigation water channel which will cost Rs 45 millions and will irrigate seven thousand acres of agricultural land.
Addressing the public gathering on this occasion, the Provincial Minister said that completion of this mega project would help increase agricultural products and would usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in the area.
He added that Pakistan is basically an agricultural country and by getting self-sufficiency in this sector, we can make progress.
He said that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) led provincial government has announced agricultural policy for the first time in the history of the province under which seeds, pesticide and fertilisers will be provided to the farmers on cheap rates. Provincial minister said that agricultural loans are also provided to the farmers on easy conditions.
He said that provincial government has started different developmental projects in Malakand Agency worth Rs one billion, which on completion would create jobs for the local people.
Shah Raz Khan stressed upon the people to supervise the developmental projects themselves and inform the government in case of any deficiency in quality or quantity so that the government could take action against the corrupt and commission mafia and award them exemplary punishment. He added that provincial government was making reforms in Works and Services Department and comprehensive planning has been carried out in this regard.
