Transporters call for wheel-jam on May 5

Karachi Transport Ittehad, an alliance of 15 transport owners associations, on Monday announced wheel-jam strike for May 5 and warned of indefinite strike after that if the assailants of transporter Malik Khalid Hussain Awan were not arrested.
The decision was taken in an emergent meeting presided over by KTI Chief Syed Irshad Hussain Bukhari. Representatives of all the member bodies of the alliance attended the meeting, a press release said. The transporters demanded of President Musharraf to direct the concerned authorities for payment of compensation.
