Karachi City District Government (CDGK) is planning to construct a chain of world-class five-star hotels, shopping plazas, and a resort, at Manghopir hills, on 'Build-Operate-Transfer' (BoT) basis in the metropolis.
According to Enterprise & Investment Promotion (E&IP) officials of city government, in the first phase as per proposed plan, at least two world-class five-star hotels would be built, for which the sites had been identified. The officials said the move was aimed to attract foreign and domestic investors, facilitating them in the city.
Regarding the resort at Manghopir, they said that it would have all basic facilities and would be a prime spot to attract all citizens of the city, including school children. They said that the resort would be the only one of its kind in the country, having a golf club, overnight staying and entertainment facilities, swimming pool, play grounds etc. They said that the resort would provide a different look about Manghopir and its environs to the visitors, adding that most of the Karachiites spend holidays and vacations at Hawkes Bay and Clifton beach, and such a historical part of the city had been cruelly ignored in the past.
They said for getting the projects started the E&IP has invited 'expressions of interest' through newspapers. In this regard, they said, several firms had expressed interest to construct it on BoT basis.
