Education and health

20 Apr, 2006

Education and health, indeed the slogan of every political party in our country, but none has worked seriously for it. For a mega city like Karachi, a few government hospitals and libraries built nearly 2 to 3 decades ago are not enough for today's need.
The fast growth in the economy has given a lot of people an opportunity to work in this mega city with no adequate basic facility and infrastructure.
No new hospitals and schools are being built by the government. The higher education is now only possible for a certain class of people who can afford to get admission in private and expensive schools. Moreover, specialised medical treatment and medicines are also difficult to be had.
It is sad thing that the University of Karachi increased the fee structure which made it impossible to study for many deserving students.
Besides no technical institutions were open to educate those people who have technical and skill background.
It is, therefore, requested to the concerned Ministry and trusts to build quality hospitals and schools with adequate facility for students and teaching staff on a no-profit-no-loss basis.
