No room for corrupt in police force: DPO

District Police Officer Muzaffargarh Rai Tahir has said that there was no room for corrupt, bad reputed, inefficient and lazy persons in police force and we are waging a crusade as per instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to change the "Thana culture" and providing relief to the aggrieved persons.
Briefing the journalists about the six month performance, DPO said that 1,536 proclaimed offenders, 674 judicial absconders were held. While 672 persons were held under arms and ammunition act and police seized 40 klashnikovs, 54 rifles, 70 guns, 157 revolvers, 230 pistols, 117 carbine, three mauzers, three daggers and 1,600 cartridges.
Similarly police launched a drive against the organised gangs of criminals and busted 26 gangs. Total 180 gangsters were held and police seized stolen goods worth Rs 8.05 million besides 13 klashnikovs, 7 rifles, 3 guns, 7 revolvers, 21 pistols, 11 carbines, 4 magazines and two daggers from their possession. Police have registered 227 cases of cattle thefts and arrested 240 cattle lifters and recovered 413 cattle heads from their possession.
DPO said that the drive was launched against the drug traffickers from January 1st to March 31, 2006 and police seized 15 kg of Hashish, wine 60 bottles, 217 litre liquor, five live distilleries and 14 drug pushers.
