A three-member bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, taking notice of non-implementation of its order, ordered Punjab's Inspector General of Prisons to replace the Superintendent of New Central Jail in Multan.
The jail official has been nominated in a case related to a prisoner's death. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and Justice Saiyid Saeed Ashhad, granted more time for investigation into the alleged murder of the prisoner. The bench observed that non-compliance with the order of the Supreme Court would be taken up after receiving the fresh inquiry report as well as a medical report.
