US stocks were little changed on Wednesday as disappointment surrounding new inflation data muted some of the optimism about strong profits from major companies.
A government report on the Consumer Price Index showing a bigger-than-expected increase in core CPI last month undermined confidence generated by Federal Reserve minutes on Tuesday that the Fed was close to ending its rate-raising policy.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 0.80 of a point, or 0.01 percent, at 11,267.97. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 0.72 of a point, or 0.06 percent, at 1,306.93. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 4.99 points, or 0.21 percent, at 2,361.13.
