New York cocoa futures prices ended in the red Friday, depressed by light speculative selling in a quiet session dominated by spread-trading activity, market sources said.
The New York Board of Trade's active July cocoa contract lost $6 to finish at $1,467 a tonne, after dealing within a narrow trading band from $1,459 to $1,472.
September cocoa shed $7 to $1,490 and back month contracts fell $6 to $8. About 200 lots had changed hands when the price spread between July/September narrowed to $23, said cocoa traders speaking from the trading floor of the NYBOT.
