US Stocks: Friday's unofficial close

US blue chip stocks rose on Friday after manufacturer 3M Co increased its profit outlook, while stronger-than-expected earnings by Google Inc lifted the S&P 500.
Google, the world's most-used Web search engine, rose 6.7 percent to $442.50 after earnings report. Helping the Dow rise to a six-year high were shares of 3M Co, which rose after the maker of Scotch tape and Post-It notes announced a 16.6 percent increase in quarterly profit.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 35.46 points, or 0.31 percent, at 11,378.35. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 2.96 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,314.42. However, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down 6.69 points, or 0.28 percent, at 2,355.86.
