Gilani put under house arrest

Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Syed Ali Gilani was put under house arrest on Saturday in occupied Srinagar, while President of Democratic Freedom Party Shabbir Ahmad Shah also remained under house arrest for the second day.
They were confined to their houses to prevent them from addressing polls boycott rallies in Baramulla district. Syed Ali Gilani, during his house arrest, told mediamen that he strongly condemned restricting of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders from continuing their political activities. He emphasised that withdrawal of troops from Occupied Kashmir was a prerequisite for return of tranquility to Occupied Kashmir and ensuring peace and stability in South Asia, PTV reported.
