Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has expressed the hope that Pakistani nationals imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay would return to their homes very soon.
In an interview to BBC Radio, he said that during his visit to the United States he raised the issue with the Attorney General and other senior officials there.
The issue was earlier discussed with the US ambassador in Pakistan, the minister said, adding, "We hope that the Pakistanis will return to their country shortly."
To a question, he said these Pakistanis were being kept there for interrogation.
These people have not yet met the Pakistani officials, he said, adding that the Government of Pakistan wants to provide consular access.
