Former finance minister and PML-N central leader Senator Mohammed Ishaq Dar has accused two former services chiefs namely General Mirza Aslam Beg (Retd) and Admiral Sirohi (Retd) of offering billions of dollars to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for a nuclear deal with Iran.
He claimed in a TV interview that the then premier had turned down the offer. Dar, a close associate and relative of Nawaz Sharif, said the then-Army chief General Aslam Beg (Retd) had offered to then-prime minister Nawaz Sharif during his first term (1990-93) about Iran's willingness to offer 12 billion dollars for co-operation in nuclear field. Ishaq Dar said General Beg told this to Nawaz Sharif about this offer.
