Federal Textile Industry Minister Mushtaq Ali Cheema has said the co-operation between Pakistani and Chinese businessmen and industrialists in textile sector would not only provide a ground for sound footing in value-added textile sector in the country, but also prove helpful in yielding more foreign exchange.
Addressing a reception held for the Chinese industrialists and businessmen delegation at Serena, arranged by the Olympia Private Limited and the trade organisations, he said the strong and dependable economic relationship of China with Pakistan has already resulted in the development of roads infrastructure like Karakoram Highway, Indus Corridor, Gwadar Port and up-gradation of railways.
The proactive and dynamic polices of the present government, which were introduced as a part of reform agenda, the economy of Pakistan is able to achieve growth targets as envisaged, he added.
The minister said textile being the main stay of Pakistan's economy, its contribution is laudable. It is worth mentioning that during the last five years about $5 billion has been invested in textile industry.
Mushtaq Ali Cheema said that the consisting economic policies are not only yielding positive impact over the export-oriented sector, but also building up confidence of Pakistani industrialists to capture more share in international trade.
He hoped that China Texmatech Company, CTMTC and Jingwei in collaboration with local entrepreneurs will open a new window for the Pakistani industrialists.
He appreciated that Chinese companies have also established after sales and service centers at Lahore, which will take care of the problems, which may arise during the operation of the machinery. This step will not only boost the confidence of the buyers but also increase the sale.
Availing this opportunity, he requested Wu Xiu Hua and other members of the delegation that other avenues may be explored particularly in the field of weaving, dyeing and finishing sectors. Cheema said that Pakistani industrialists will be requiring this type of machinery in next five years.
He said the Ministry of Textile Industry is establishing 'Textile City' at Karachi and Garment Cities in Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad. In these cities all the required facilities will be provided through one-window and according to the international standards, with the objective to provide investment friendly environment for the industrialists to produce value-added products.
Leading industrialist of Pakistan is managing all these projects/cities with the government only acting as a facilitator. They are being facilitated at every level by the government to show its commitments towards the achievement of its goals of progressive and developed Pakistan.
He said the Chinese government/industrialists will also be investing in these projects to foster the already strong economic relationship between both countries, adding it can prove to be instrumental for the development of Textile Industry in the region.
Presenting the address of welcome, Maqsood Ahmad Naz, managing director, Olympia (Pvt) Ltd, said that China's Texmatech Co Ltd, which is working under the central government of People's Republic of China, has all manufacturing and financial facilities.
Delegations consisting of senior management are paying visits on regular basis, for introduction of new technology and to get market feedback. He mentioned that Olympia (Pvt) Ltd, has already sold reasonable number of textile machinery for new Complete Spinning Plants as well as for BMR of the existing units, which are working successfully in various mills.
Maqsood also told the audience that their organisation is making efforts to introduce technical textile like non-woven industry, polyester staple fibre plant, hollow fibre, etc, dyeing and finishing.
He also said that with the co-operation of CTMTC they intend to set up a show room for the weaving section as well as for spinning, synthetic fiber plant, which we can offer reasonable financial facility with reasonable period.
Chinese Delegation leader Wu Xin Hua also addressed the function and said that the close relations between China and Pakistan would be more strengthened in the field of business and trade especially in the textile sector. He invited Pakistani businessmen to see Today's China.
Chaudhry Abdul Haq, chairman, Muhammad Akram Ghouri, vice chairman, Rana Ikhlaq Ahmad, former chairman, All Pakistan Cotton Powerlooms Association, Muhammad Nawaz Vohra and other leading businessmen also participated in the function.
