Monitoring crime: Faisalabad to be linked with Wide Area Network

25 Apr, 2006

Faisalabad would be the first to be brought into the Wide Area Network (WAN) for efficient surveillance and monitoring of this burgeoning industrial and business hub of Pakistan, said district police officer (DPO) Captain Muhammad Amin Waince (Retd).
Addressing a function here on Monday, he said this city was already pioneer in introducing modern monitoring systems through top dome cameras.
"About 100 cameras are in operation in the city, including 31 in Iqbal Stadium alone," he said, adding that studies were being conducted now to switch over to WAN to monitor the whole city by integrated networks covering various areas.
The DPO said a central control room would be established to monitor the city without employing heavy forces.
