Partly Facetious: will BB play Aung Sang Su Kyi card?

29 Apr, 2006

"So ladies and gentlemen of Pakistan, BB is coming back."
"Who says so?"
"Jehangir Badr of the cravat fame!"
"Why would he say such a thing?" "Because BB told him to." "But why say it at all?"
"In an attempt to unnerve the Government."
"The Chosen One is not unnerved by her, maybe by the Chaudharys, but not BB."
"That's true, and the latest in that attack is a party thrown by the cousin for ambassadors of 40 countries at the Lahore Fort."
"Is the Chosen One invited?"
"Not to my knowledge."
"Hmmmm that is blatant ambition in political parlance! But maybe he just wants to make sure he and his rather large family have no problem with visas."
"With our politicians being rejected for visas that is a possibility but in this case I would think it's ambition."
"I guess. But going back to BB's return maybe Badr's intention was to unnerve the President."
"Don't think he or his leader is that naïve. The President cannot be unnerved by the likes of her.
Besides I don't think she will return if the status quo remains unchanged."
"Maybe she feels she can win elections, notwithstanding, the fact that the government will assist its own to win, shall we say."
"No when I said she won't return I was alluding to her not wanting to go to jail. There are arrest warrants out for her so I don't think she is in any mood to play the Aung Sang Su Kyi of Myanmar card."
"Not easy to be under arrest."
"No, not at all as Mian Sahib learnt the hard way. Apparently, the back problem is exacerbated by this kind of residence. Mian Sahib's younger brother also experienced acute back pain after residing in jail for a awhile so I guess the consensus is that jail time is back problem time."
"Maybe the Bhuttos are made of sterner stuff."
"True but AZ also developed a back problem, I hear."
"AZ is not a Bhutto."
"Ah yes I keep forgetting."
"Besides, the food is not that good in jail."
"Yes that too."
