The University of Sindh approved the award of M. Phil degrees to two candidates in disciplines of the faculties of Natural Sciences and Social Sciences here on Wednesday.
In its 89th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board of the University, presided over by Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, the participants discussed advancement of the research programmes in various disciplines of the different faculties of the university.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing research projects and M. Phil and PhD programmes under guidance of various research-scholars in the different disciplines and also discussed the progress of research work towards M. Phil and PhD carried out by the candidates.
The meeting in the light of the reports of the examiners approved the award of M. Phil degrees to research scholars Shahana Mumtaz in psychology and Zeba Hussain Soomro in biotechnology. In the light of the reports of scrutiny committees of the faculty of Islamic Studies accorded approval to three candidates for registration in M. Phil research as well as topics for research and names of the supervisors.
The meeting after completion of M. Phil by candidates allowed Muhammad Raheem Jan for registration in PhD in Geology and Muhammad Ismail for PhD in Islamic culture.
Considering request of researchers, the advanced studies board allowed to research scholar Muhammad Ali Talpur for change topics for PhD thesis in the faculty of social sciences.
The meeting also approved the names of various scholars as research guide and supervisor to help various research students in the faculty of Islamic studies.
