Two proclaimed offenders, including one Imran Asghar son of a PML (N) leader Muhammad Asghar, were killed in separate police encounters here on Sunday morning, while their two accomplices were arrested.
Sadar Police said a patrolling mobile van saw some suspects, who were chasing a car near Gattwala in the wee hours. Police challenged them but, instead of surrendering, they started firing, on which the police retaliated. During the encounter, the suspects turned the car on Cana Road, which dashed into a tree along the footpath near Government Commerce College Faisalabad.
All suspects entered the college premises and started firing on the police parties. After an hour, Imran Asghar was found dead, while his brother Irfan Asghar and another person Samar Abbas were arrested.
In the meantime, Usman Fani of the same group was also killed in police encounter in area of Chak 83GB of Police Station Dijkot.
In a press statement, a spokesman of District Police claimed to have recovered eight Kalashnikovs and hundreds of bullets from their possession.
In both encounters, no policeman was injured. However, police claimed that some bullets hit the vehicles of Sadar Police. According to police statement, Imran Asghar was involved in 27 cases of murder, dacoities, kidnapping for ransom, etc.
A case has been registered in connection with police encounter in Peoples Colony Police Station and investigation is in progress. The relatives of Imran Asghar stated that the encounter was faked, because Imran was in police custody.
