US cocoa futures ended slightly higher Monday as players took profits on a wave of speculative buying spurred by a weak dollar during a session that was a holiday in London, dealers said.
The New York Board of Trade's active July cocoa rose $10, or 0.7 percent, to close at $1,531 a tonne after trading between $1,520 and $1,545. It ended up $13 on Friday.
September cocoa also rose $10 to end at $1,552 a tonne, after trades of $1,546-$1,564. It rose $12 the previous session. The back months ended up $10 to $11. Trade in cocoa futures on the NYBOT reached an estimated 9,102 lots, up from Friday's official tally of 7,118 lots.
