The government of Pakistan has announced the promotion of Rear Admiral Iftikhar Ahmed Rao, HI (M) to the rank of Vice Admiral, notified by ministry of defence on Friday.
Vice Admiral Iftikhar Ahmed Rao was commissioned in Pakistan Navy in December 1972 in the Operations Branch. Upon graduation form Naval Academy the Admiral won the sword of honour. Later he joined Naval Aviation.
His commands include Pakistan Navy's guided missile destroyer PNS Babur, two aviation squadrons, Commander Air and Commander Naval Aviation.-PR
