Traders demand increase in Haj quota

The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) has demanded that direct Haj flights should be started from Faisalabad and Faisalabad Haj Complex should be established on priority basis.
In a joint meeting of Haj & Umra Committee of the FCCI and Faisalabad Air Travellers Association, presided over by Haji Mohammad Shafi, Chairman of Joint Action Committee, the speakers strongly demanded that the Haj quota allocated to Faisalabad should be enhanced on the basis of population.
They pointed out that the Rawalpindi District with 3.8 million population was being allotted 5100 Haj quota likewise Islamabad with one million population being allotted 5000 Haj quota, whereas Faisalabad District with 6.2 million population was being allotted only 1150 Haj quota, which is injustice.
They further said that the process of filing of applications for Haj scheme should be increased as per the government Haj Scheme and the Private Haj Scheme.
Tour Operators Association President Mohammad Akram Khan, Haji Abdul Jabbar, Malik Muhammad Arshad, Sheikh Sajjad Haider, Haji Mohammad Saleem and Mian Shaukat Ali also addressed the meeting.
They appealed to the prime minister for immediate interference for justice and constitution of a high level committee to review the complaints of the people.
