Raw sugar futures ended higher Friday on speculative and trade buying as the market bounced from a fall to a week low, but dealings next week may be subdued next week because of an industry dinner, brokers said.
The New York Board of Trade's July raw sugar contract rose 0.43 cent or 2.5 percent to end at 17.48 cents a lb, moving from 17.11 to 17.49 cents. It was an inside day since the range was within Thursday's 17.02 to 17.51 cents band.
On Thursday, the contract finished at 17.05 cents in the lowest finish on the spot daily charts for sugar since ending at 16.72 cents on April 27.
October went up 0.39 to 17.80 cents. The rest increased 0.34 to 0.39 cent.
