Field day for rickshaw, taxi drivers

With a shortage of buses and coaches in the city today, the rickshaw drivers and taxies had a field day and demanded fancy fares for short distances, reports UPP correspondent.
Many of the buses which were having smoke-emitting engines have been held back in workshops by the owners to escape detention by the police. While people welcomed the campaign against the smoke-emitting vehicles, there was a shortage of public transport on most routes in the city with great inconvenience to the commuters. People have urged upon the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) to ensure that all transporters operate the vehicles in full strength.
