The cement output fell by 18 percent to 1.5 million tonnes in April from the March level, but output for the 10 months through April was 11 percent higher than a year ago, spokesman of the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) Shahzad Ahmed said here on Tuesday.
Cement production during the first 10 months of the current fiscal 2005-06 (July/June) was recorded at 14.85 million tonnes. The demand up from 13.38 million tonnes in the corresponding year-ago period, Shahzad said.
Out of the total production, 1.44 million tonnes were sold domestically, while 51,393 tonnes were exported, he said.
