10 May, 2006

The Opposition in Sindh Assembly on Tuesday requisitioned the Sindh Assembly session to discuss demolition of katchi abadies and ancient villages by City district government of Karachi (CDGK).
On behalf of the opposition, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Makhdoom Jamil submitted the requisition at Sindh Assembly secretariat to discuss ongoing drive of CDGK regarding the demolition of katchi abadies and ancient villages in Karachi.
Other PPP MPAs, including Sassui Pallijo, Farheen Mughal, Nasreen Chandio were also accompanied Makhdoom Jamil while submitting the requisition.
Later, talking to newsmen at Sindh Assembly building, PPP MPAs told newsmen that over 45 members had signed the requisition to deliberate upon ongoing demolition of ancient villages in Karachi by the local government.
They said the opposition had also requisitioned the previous session to discuss the same issue but the government did not allow opposition to raise the issue in the assembly and prorogued it in haste, adding that they would not allow the treasury to avoid criticism against its anti-people activities.
