'Opposition should get united around Charter of Democracy'

All the opposition parties and students groups, labourers and industrial workers should unite around the Charter of Democracy to bring back the country on the track of democracy. Mohammad Pervaiz Malik, PML-N Central Secretary Finance, made this appeal while speaking at a meeting of ARD workers here on Tuesday.
Malik maintained that Nawaz Sharif and Benazir would sign the Charter of Democracy and its ratification by the ARD on July 3, thus the struggle for restoration of democracy would thrive. "The parties and groups that believe in democracy and welfare of the people should unite without wasting any time. Their unity would only guarantee the restoration of democracy and put the country on path to solidarity and progress," he added.
According to him, the Charter of Democracy merely does not mean that the country's main parties would tolerate each other for sustainable civil government but this would make an end the chances of military rule in future and the Army would work under the administrative control of civilian government according to the Constitution. This Charter would correct the government institutions.
"Nawaz and Benazir have become veterans of democracy during their exile period of over six years and now they would never commit mistakes of the past and would run this country with honesty and good intention," he added.
