Supreme Court orders confiscation of landlord's property

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered confiscation of the property of a landlord, Abdul Rehman Mari, who was accused of abducting nine-member family of a peasant Munno Bheel.
The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad and Justice Hamid Ali, directed session judges of Mirpurkhas and Sanghar to initiate action to confiscate the property of Abdul Rehman Mari while DIG Salimullah Khan was ordered to assist them. The SC Bench also directed the DIG to provide weekly progress report of the case to the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
Earlier, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry inquired of Chief Secretary Sindh, Fazlu Rehman, who appeared on court notice, as to why he interfered in the affairs of the court by transferring DIG Mirpurkhas, Salimullah Khan who was directed by the Court to probe into the matter of Munno Bheel.
