Tawana Pakistan Project (TPP) has proved to be a great achievement of ministry of social welfare and special education, government of Pakistan.
Professor A.G. Billoo, the renowned child specialist and chairman, Hands - a leading non-profit development organisation, commenting on the project report that has recently been published, said.
"With the publication of this report government of Pakistan, ministry of social welfare and special education has something to celebrate." Considering the pathetic nutritional state of the children in the country where nearly 60 percent children are malnourished and that is one of the important reasons of 50 percent drop out rate of primary schools children, this project was implemented to address this issue. The project made significant achievement by dropping almost half malnutrition among girls' students and school enrolment increased by 40 percent, he remarked.
He said that the government of Pakistan and the NGO partners facilitated in provision of community based cooked meals in over 4,000 public sector schools.-PR
