The Sindh government on Saturday formally issued a notification regarding approval of service structure for Health Department's paramedical staff from BPS-1 to 15 and sanctioned up-gradation of various posts with immediate effect.
Earlier, Sindh Health Minister Shabbir Qaimkhani told a news conference held here that an additional amount of Rs 51.5 million would be tagged for salaries after approval of the new service structure for paramedics.
He said the provincial government was taking revolutionary steps to improve health sector, and called upon paramedics to end differences and serve people.
The minister said the provincial government had given promotions to doctors awaiting it since 1997 and that was also a revolutionary step like the approval of the service structure for Sindh-based paramedical staff.
He said the service structure was the legitimate right of employees, which was achieved through joint efforts of paramedical association and health department.
The minister vowed that other legal demands of doctors, paramedics and health workers would also be met.
He asked doctors to ensure wearing uniforms, while discharging their duties at hospitals, so that they could be distinguished from other staff in case of any emergency.
