15 May, 2006

Mushtaq Ali Cheema, Federal Minister for Textile Industry has said that forthcoming federal budget will be a relief-oriented budget with a focused approach to continue the existing economic and fiscal policies.
Addressing a pre-budget seminar organised by Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), at Chenab Club, he said that budget was considered as a secret document prior to this government.
However, all segments of society are now being involved in budget formulation to achieve the ultimate objectives of progress and prosperity, he said and added that private sector was now working as a partner with government and hence the post-budget strikes and call of shutter down have come to an end forever.
About textile industry, he said Pakistan was expecting a quantum jump after withdrawal of quota restrictions on textile products. About human resource development, he said that three federal ministries were working on it. Luckily, Altaf Saleem Chairman, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) also belongs to Faisalabad. Labour Ministry was evolving a strategy, he said and added that Skill Development Board of Textile Industry was also working on a project.
