Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Syed Raza Ali Gillani has directed the officials of Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) to fully cooperate with the private sector in the completion of such housing schemes, which were being constructed in accordance with the law.
He further directed them to keep a watchful eye on such residential colonies being constructed in violation of rule and regulations so that immediate action could be taken against them.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency. Secretary Housing Khalid Sultan and PHATA Director General Shahzad Jamil and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
The Minister said government was evolving a comprehensive plan regarding construction of modern residential colonies in order to create job opportunities in small cities and to provide basic facilities so that transfer of people towards big cities could be checked.
The Minister directed all district officers of PHATA to identify suitable land for the construction of residential colonies. He said that with the construction of housing colonies in small cities, employment opportunities would be available to the people.
These measures would result in promotion of other 46 relevant industries, which are linked with housing sector, he added.
