Excellence achieved by women in every walk of life has proved that working side by side with men they can contribute significantly towards the development of the country.
Government is taking every possible step for encouraging talented women to come forward and play their role in this regard, said Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport and Industries Adil Siddiqui while addressing a ceremony of Women Excellence Award-2006.
The Awards ceremony was organised jointly by the FPCCI Standing Committee for Women Entrepreneurs and Triple-e here at a hotel on Saturday night.
More than 30 women were conferred "Women Excellence Awards-2006" in four different categories. Those who received special awards in the field of social services in connection with the earthquake of October 8, 2005 include Mi Na Choi Kyung Hee Lee of Korea, Shamim Kazmi and Salma Murad.
Tahira Raza received the award for Women Banker of the Year, Sultana Siddiqui for Business Women, Sawaba Imran for Women Manager, Naila Qasim for ICT Women, Musarrat Misbah for Entrepreneur, Hina Bayat Khawaja for Media Women (Electronic), Samara Niazi for Media Women (Print), Seema Mughal for Women Educator, Parveen Elahi for Women of the Year (Public Sector), Parveen Qadir Agha for Women of the Year (Women Development), Maheen Khan for Fashion Designer, Laiqa Hasan for Beautician, Seema Tahir Khan for Women TV Producer, Sangita for Women Film Producer, Dr Rehana Shah for Women of the Year (Health Sector) and Mumtaz Maker and Salma Murad for Women of the Year (Exporter).
Award for Best Actress went to Meera, Women of the Year (Social Services) to Sister Dietlinde Gotz, Women Model of the Year to Irraj Manzoor, Best Singer to Gulshan Ara Syed. City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil, Saskita Kent of Britain and Dawn Jordon of Germany received special awards. Pop singing sensation Ali Haider and others added further colours to the ceremony with their energetic singing.
