Federal Inter-provincial Co-ordination Minister Salim Saifullah said the misunderstandings and reservations of provinces about water distribution would be removed and more water reservoirs would be built with consensus to overcome water shortage.
"It is a great tragedy that we have very few water reservoirs, a problem which the present government is determined to resolve and has accordingly taken steps to build five more dams to secure the country's future and meet the growing water and energy needs," he told APP in an interview.
In his first media interview after assuming charge of his cabinet responsibilities, he outlined his plans to promote inter-provincial co-ordination and harmony.
To a question about Kalabagh dam, he said: "All reservations of Sindh, known as Bab-ul-Islam, would be removed and a decision in this regard would be taken in the larger interest of the country."
The minister said he would soon visit Sindh for detailed discussions with the chief minister about the provincial problems.
Salim Saifullah said he would visit Quetta and would have meetings with various political parties, including the opposition.
"The 27 recommendations in the parliamentary committee report on Balochistan would come under discussion during the visit," he said.
