National Assembly body takes up Railway Golf Club lease issue today

The National Assembly body will take up the leasing out of Railways Golf Club at through away prices on Wednesday in Lahore. The Standing Committee on Railways is scheduled to meet in Pakistan Railway Headquarter, Lahore, with MNA Sardar Tufail Ahmed in the chair.
Sources in the Railway Ministry told Business Recorder that it was perhaps the third notice to the ministry officials from the NA body to brief the lawmakers about the deal.
It is learnt that National Assembly Standing Committee Chairman Sardar Tufail has asked the Railway authorities to place before the lawmakers a complete statement of present value of Railway Golf Club deal. The official sources said that Pakistan Railways has leased out golf club on through away prices.
The authorities have been directed to appear with the complete details of advertisement published in the media regarding the lease of the golf club.
The NA body has demanded of the Railway high-ups to produce the copy of the contract reached between Pakistan Railways and the Golf Club. Besides, the committee has asked the officials to present payment receipt of the golf club. The PR authorities will also brief the NA standing committee if any amount is due from the lease payment.
The former Minister of State for Railways, Ishaq Khan Khakwani, who has now been assigned the portfolio of Information Technology, is also asked to attend the meeting. However, Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed would not attend the meeting as he is abroad with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
