Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam conceded that Pakistan was holding talks on an agreement to provide transit facilities with Nato for shifting of arms, ammunition and other defence equipment to Afghanistan.
However, she clarified that Pakistan would not permit to use its soil for operational activities.
On Wednesday, the spokesman of Nato told reporters in Brussels that Nato's Deputy Secretary General had held talks with President Musharraf on the matter of transit facilities of defence arms and military equipment to Afghanistan along with the deployment of a Nato co-ordinator in Islamabad. She also confirmed that in accordance to an agreement Pakistan was providing same facilities to International Security Assistance Force.
On a question Tasneem Aslam also confirmed that Nato had offered training facilities for Pakistan military officers in the military training schools of Europe, which would be helpful to establish better co-ordination in operational activities between the Nato and Pakistan forces.
