117 development schemes underway in Hyderabad

The District Co-ordination Officer Hyderabad, Muhammad Sharif Awan has said that 117 ongoing and new development schemes of ADP were being executed by the district government Hyderabad at total cost of Rs 2525.541 million to provide basic facilities to the people of the district.
This he stated while presiding over a review meeting of development works being carried out under ADP at his camp office on Wednesday. Addressing the meeting, the DCO Hyderabad further informed that out of these 117 different development schemes, 67 schemes were new and launched in this financial year 2005-2006 with estimated cost of Rs 614.8 million while remaining 50 schemes were had been launched in the previous years at total cost of Rs 1910.701 million in the district.
Awan informed that an amount of Rs 192.175 million has been earmarked to carry out development works of ongoing development schemes and Rs 101.895 million to implement over development works of new schemes during current financial year 2005-2006.
He said that 65 percent utilisation of yearly funds for ongoing development works has been achieved till yet, but still there is need to expedite the pace of development works to ensure full utilisation of development funds by the end of June 2006.
While talking about work progress of new scheme, DCO Hyderabad said that the execution of these schemes were delayed due to approval from Zila Council Session which commenced late due to its election schedule.
However, he said that yearly amount against these schemes has been released and work was in progress. He further directed the officers concerned to expedite the pace of development works and to ensure full utilisation of development funds especially allocated for ongoing scheme.
He also directed that development work of new schemes should also be expedited in double shift to cover the delay in execution of work and ensure optimum utilisation of development funds.
He directed the officers not to compromise over the quality of work to ensure durability of works and make government investment more fruitful for the people of district.
