Gastroenteritis kills eight in Faisalabad

At least eight people, including three children, died and thousands have been admitted to hospitals following an outbreak of gastro-enteritis in Faisalabad and Hyderabad here on Saturday, private TV channels reported.
Supply of contaminated water in Faisalabad and Hyderabad led to the outbreak of the disease, killing eight people and affecting over 3,000 in Faisalabad and over 150 in Hyderabad since Thursday, a senior health official said.
He said that patients were still being brought to the hospitals, adding that there were thousands of people under treatment in local hospitals and clinics after drinking contaminated water.
A provincial minister has ordered immediate inquiry into the deaths in Faisalabad and Hyderabad.
