German chipmaker Infineon has been selected by Microsoft as a development partner for prepaid and subscription computing, Infineon said in a statement on Monday.
Under the agreement, Infineon will work with Microsoft to develop specialised security chips for Microsoft's FlexGo software.
FlexGo technology is designed to allow a customer to buy a computer loaded with Microsoft's Windows operating system, then purchase prepaid cards or pay a monthly subscription fee at a cost similar to using a computer at a local Internet cafe.
