Nazim launches drive against District Police Officer

24 May, 2006

Muzaffargarh Tehsil Nazim Malik Ibad Dogar launched an organised drive against the Khangarh Police. He encircled the Police Station and hurled stones and bricks on police station to express their anger.
On Tuesday, he asked the other members of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) to take out a procession against the DPO, but majority of the TMA members refused to do so and two members Malik Shakir Dogar and Imtiaz Aleem Qureshi said: "We should wait for the arrival of Muzaffargarh DPO Rai Muhammad Tahir from Nipa course, and we should not take the law in our hands." Consequently, the bid to take out procession against the DPO failed.
When contacted the DPO on phone, he said that he had suspended the SI Abdul Razzaq following the complaint of Tehsil Nazim and an inquiry was ordered against him which was being conducted by DSP Alipur Liaquat Jatoi. If he proved guilty of the misconduct then action would be taken against him. However, he would not accept the dictation of the Nazim in this regard because he had to run the entire system in the district.
He also said the Police did not register a case against elements who attacked the Khangarh Police Station and observed sit-in on the National Highway to block the traffic.
